Background:    Serine/threonine-protein kinase 15 (STK15), also known as Aurora A kinase, is a member of a family of mitotic serine/threonine kinases. It is implicated with important processes during mitosis and meiosis whose proper function is to ensure healthy cell proliferation. STK15 is a putative oncogene, whose dysregulation has been associated with high occurrence of cancer.
